Anyone had experience with them? Will these fish eat smaller fish when they get bigger? One of mine had a swollen belly hours after feeding - don't know what he could have been eating and was a little concerned for my Cories. However, the head count is still 5. Now to count the Tetras......

These fish eventually need to go into brackish and marine waters--much shortened lives in FW. They will eat anything they can fit in their mouth, as well.

Yea, even at 4 inches, they should be in a brackish aquarium. Your other fish will suffer in a brackish aquarium and most of the fish you have there will be eaten by the shark.

i have had a silvertip shark for 2 yrs. he is in a tank with mostly guppies and other small fish and has never eaten one. he is about 7 inches long. he is getting to big now and i will probably be getting rid of him soon though anyway. I guess mine is one wierd fish!

i had a few when i was a kid, they used to eat guppies.
then again, i had a blue chanel cat that never harmed a single fish, and he was very large.
i see more and more that various carnivores really change from fish to fish, so it depends on your particular fish i guess.
i was unaware back then that columbian sharks were a brackish/marine fish.

When I was new to the hobby, I went into a pet store and was told that this fish had no special requirments. Oops... They both lasted about two months and right before they died, finished off every last fish in the tank. I admit though, they are very cool looking and if it wasn't for the brackish thing. I would have them again.
