is getting to big for my freshwater, was told as they get bigger they will need a brackish tank.

can they survive at all in freshwater?

when do i know its time to change him?

he's about 5-6inch now,in a 20L tank

They seldom survive past one year in FW, IME. Watch for increases in activity--they seem hyper, always moving, when they start needing to go brackish--they normal migrate downstream when their internal clock says the time is right.

Not only that, but they prefer to hang out in a school & need SW as an adult.
