ok so ive recently heard that you can keep a single german blue ram in a 10 gallon tank. could i do a single with a shool of like flame tetras or about the same size schooling fish?

10 gal is too small for many of the tetras given you need school for them

I have to ask...what would be the point?

I found my male lost a lot of color and activity without a female (which is so happened to have harassed to death, but I digress) and really a lone female isn't going to do much either.

People may disagree with me but I believe that a 10g is best suited for blue ram breeding purposes only. I'm sure you could put it to better use.

could i do a male and female in a heavily planted 10 by themselves? if not im probably just gonna try a female betta sorority.

Probably best to focus on getting your 55g running smoothly before trying to set up another one, especially if the fish you are interested in is a species known to be sensitive and needing an established tank.

tanks over a month old. its my killifish tank that ive decided to sell my killifish.

one CAN do anything one wants with a tank, but some things are more likely to work out well than..

i agree... only in a 20l... but i disagree with the point about colors being washed out without a mate. my male bolivian ram's mate passed, and his colors are great, if not better then he was with a mate. i would definitely concentrate on the 55. i know empty tanks are hard to deal with lol, but its best to concentrate on one tank at a time.

i just dont want the biological filter to die off while i wait for my plants to grow in. i think ill get a simple betta.
