I acquired two fire fish about two weeks ago. The larger one has a small white spot or dot on its side that was there when i brought him home. It has not changed and he is acting normally. Is it a parasite, something benign? I'm new to saltwater and lost. The spot does not seem to have changed. i am not sure i could get a picture of it but it is not a film or slim, just a very small barely protruding speck(like a grain of sand, in fact i thought it was a small piece of sand stuck to the skin at first, but its stayed in the same location and is still there. Both are eating normaly and are great fish to watch, THANK YOU!

It's hard to say exactly what it is without being able to see it. Have you seen any photos online that look similar to what your fish has?

Do you have any cleaner shrimp? If so, and it is some sort of parasite, the cleaner shrimp may pick it off, as long as the firefish allows the cleaner shrimp to clean him.
