Okay, this sounds like it doesn't belong on a fish forum but it does.

I have two problems with my sink. My dad made a python like thing for me to fill my tanks with. It connects to my bathroom sink, since my tanks are in my bedroom. My faucet is female, is that matters.

Anyways, whenever I use a metal adapter (which is all I kind find that I know will fit, since I have no idea what size the Python and alike products adapters are), it strips the threads of my faucet. I have to switch out a good faucet just because the threads were stripped. I don't want it to happen to my new faucet. Any ideas?

Another issue I'm having is when I attach the hose to my faucet. I'm in the bathroom, I turn the faucet on, I wait for the water to come out of the hose at the right temperature. Then I close the valve on the hose so I can bring it to a tank and I open the valve. But the temperature is completely different now. It's always either very hot or very cold. I have to keep going back and forth to the bathroom to keep adjusting the sink. There aren't separate controls for hot and cold, you just turn the sink's single handle/knob? right or left. Left is hot, right is cold.

Has anyone else experienced this temperature problem with a python or other hose system? Is there anyway to fix it?

It is not the python causing the temp flucuation..it is your faucet....the bit of adjusting is normal. I usually just adjust until the tap spout feels cool to my touch....

yup plus since you have to get a new faucet get one with hot and cold knobs :)

I also have the metal faucet adapter and use my bathroom sink. The key is to not use any tools just your hands to hand loosen and tighten the fittings, and to keep from cross threading always screw on the python fitting starting backwards (lefty loosey) until you feel the threads line up then gently reverse direction (righty tighty) to easily thread the fitting. If you have any resistance at all putting on the fitting you are definitely cross threading it and starting to strip threads. Just like care we take cutting our nails, you need to be aware of whats and how your doing this so as not to cause damage. Always use the python to start the water removal to the sing drain but once started shut the water off, remove the hose from the python and transfer the hose to the bottom of the bath tub which is low enough to siphon water but will save you about 100 gallons+ of fresh water wasted by the python suction. Then to refill reconnect the hose back on the python and let the water run at adjustment for 20 seconds then start filling. Temperature difference of as much as 5F will make no difference if you water chnage is not over 30%.

I adjust it and let it run for a couple of minutes but the temp changes by the time I reach the tank. No matter how long I run the faucet to get a certain temp when I'm at the sink, it changes to hot or cold by the time I reopen the valve when I'm back at the tank with the hose.

Unfortunately, I already got a new one :(

Can I transfer the hose to the toilet to drain? I don't want that crud in my bathtub and I'm pretty sure it'll clog it. Our water pressure isn't the greatest since we have a well and it effects all the plumbing.

We get our water from a well gravity fed tank on a hill as well, cold water comes out 90F in summer (now) and have to use a sprayer when refilling to drop the temperature some through the air of the house AC 78F and no more then 25%. Anyway the only time I use the toilet is when I dump the bucket of dirty brown filter water I used to rinse out the cruddy sponges. However the water from my aquarium water changes is pretty clear and clean going down the tub, not much different then when one takes a shower. However I have no problem cleaning the tub afterwords, and as far as drains go 1/2 cup of bleach down suspect slow drains before going to bed works wonders overnight. I wouldn't be sticking my aquarium hoses into the toilet even if it looks clean as there is a huge amount of bad bacteria there.

The temp fluctuations are going to happen, especially if your well pressure tank is small. The temp difference shouldn't be an issue.

But it is an issue when it comes out either very cold or very hot.
