what would be good sinking veggies for plecos?
are potatoes good for plecos? i'd liek to feed them with veggies which doesn't have to be weighed down.
so that i can just drop them into the tank?
any suggestions?

thanks.

it depends on the plec, some will eat patatoes. To sink simply rubberband a veggie to a small rock. Most of the veggies they like need to be wieghed down(zucchini, cucumber, lettuce, brocoli, etc)

Mine love zucchini.
I cut up pieces, put it in small conatainer of water, then zap it in the microwave for a minute. Nearly all vegies will sink once boiled.

potatoes are pretty much just starch, they're not actual vegetables - plecos need green/colorful veggies. it's also very likely that your water will get really cloudy from the potato - simple starches --> simple sugars --> bacterial buffet

i'm with chicken .. potatoes don't have much nutrition for fish but starch and isn't something fish normally eat.

I tie fishing line or plain dental floss to plants weights & veggie clips that I use for raw or lightly cooked veg. Then I don't have to reach the tank bottom to remove leftovers before they fall apart & make a mess.

Hi I read that sweet potatoes/yams are a favorite of Clown Pleco's I have yet to try one so I cant' comment through experience.
My BN loves frozen veggies you know the mixed kind carrots and peas I cooked them for a little while first then froze them I just defrost a few every night and they sink right to the bottom.
Zuccini is a favorite but I have to put that on a clip.
Oh and not a veggie but he loves Spirulina Discs too.
