I saw a skilter filter with a built on protein skimmer and i was wondering if it was any good. It was also fairily inexpensive and I had never seen one and was curious if they were any good. Any input would be good.
It was marked at something like 100 gallons. and the tank i plan on running it on is a 45 gallon so i think it should be able to handle it, but i plan on soon upgrading to a 60 gallon. But i had never heard of anyone even having one of those filters so thanks for your input.

skilters

I bought one of these skimmer/filters, and let me tell you I was surprise at how bad this thing really was.You would be better off putting the 40 bucks into a good, well reviewed skimmer. You can skim through here to find out about peoples experiences with various brands.I originally up graded to a seaclone 150....but after reading a few posts on the aquaclear remora I decided to get one.Best investment ever!!the thing works great.I have an Amiracle SL-15 on my 29G and that tank is crystal clear. It has the venturi protein skimmer with the wet/dry.I actually turned the wet/dry portion of it into a refugium by doing some little mods and adding a 13w pc light.IMO the skilter should be Banned!!Just a waste of money.

wow, thanks for the advise ill probably steer clear of it. the only problem is that i have a very tight budget. Being 15 with no job and a pretty uncertain cash flow coming from chores, baby sitting, ext. right now i have about $100 to work with. I have actualy seen a few cheaper skimmers but i have heard good things about the remoras and will have to check it out.
