Skimmer Adjustment advice needed

:help: I have a 46 gal bowfront. I'm using an AquaC Remora with the Maxijet 1200 pump. My understanding is that when functioning properly, a protein skimmer should produce a thick, dark, foul smelling liquid. Mine is producing a not so thick urine colored liquid that smells like brine. I get about a full cup each day. Is there some adjustment I should be doing besides the height of the collection cup (by moving the rubber O-ring up or down)? The unit isn't putting air bubbles in my tank, like I've heard other people complain about, and the amount of foam it produces does change with differences in the tank - like after I've put my hand in the water, or after I scrub alge off the walls of the tank.

Does it sound like it's working properly? or does it need adjustment, and how DO I adjust it?

Thanks a lot in advance!

A Cup Aday Means Its Trying To Work,,,and Yes Yer Hand Ect Makes A Diffrence,,,try Raising The Cup About 1/4 Inch Every Few Days,,until The Gunk Is Drier,,best I Get Fronm This Skimmer Is Like Instant Tea Mix..but This A A Good Skimmer,,with Time Gunk Will Get Nastier...how Wet Is The Foam?
