Skimmer recommendations PLEASE!

I am asking for any and all opinions as to what would be a low cost, and effective protein skimmer for a 29 gal FOWLR tank. How often does the canister need to be emptied?
Also, I have a penguin HOB filter right now. Will I be able to get rid of that or should I go with both? :bowing:

For the price, I don't think you can beat the coralife super skimmer. Ugly, but it's less tha $100 US, pretty easy to set up, and skims pretty well. Depending on the load, the cup will need to be emptied and washed one or two times a week. Every few weeks you'll want to clean the venturi.

You could keep the penguin and use it for circulation, or just use a powerhead or two.

i second the vote. Coralife's do a pretty good job and their cheap. Go to coralife protein skimmer

I have a CPR Bak-Pak 2 and it does a fantastic job. You empty the cup when it looks like it needs to be emptied. It will fill up with skmmate and then you emtpy it. Cleaning the skimmer is a must. It will keep the water clearer and cleaner.
