I want to convert my fw over to sw. Well, its only a ten gallon. I know everyone will want to tell me how thats not a great idea, but I know some sw veterans that have done that before and it has worked. I'm not wanting a lot of fish, one or two. So, I would like input why and why not. Thanks everyone. Note: I'm new to sw but I have good people around me that are.

As long as you keep up on water tests, water changes and water top-offs, you should be fine. As water evaporates, salinity will rise; I have a couple 10g tanks and have to top them off daily to keep the salinity in check. Other than that, it's not that difficult but you will be very limited in your livestock choices.

Do a search in the General Marine forum for a thread started by OrionGirl entitled something like "My new 10g nano-reef" for lots of ideas how one of this site's veterans set up a small SW.

Bigger is better for stability of water conditions, but smaller is smarter for ease of frequent water changes.
