I finally got a 10 gallon breeding tank for bladder snails set up tonight. Would like to add different snails in the future.
The problem is that the snails are getting slime all over the sand. They're trying to climb on each other and sand is sticking to them like crazy. Particularly the largest ones are having problems. I imagine it must be cutting their foots/feet (what is the plural here?).
I was told that crushed egg shells was a bad idea and I guess it was because I had the same problem with their feet getting cut up and getting slime all over. I was told that sand was fine, so I used sand. How can I have the same problem with sand when it's supposed to be safe?
Why in the world don't they have this same problem in my fish tanks with the same sand?
I don't want a bare tank bottom. I don't particularly want gravel either.
