small aquariums

Sorry, this is a bit off topic!

I have a little 2.5 gallon, and I have so much trouble trying to syphon it! Anyone have any ideas, because it's so hard to start a water flow through the syphon in such a little tank!

Try just using a very small clear tube from Home Depot. Or go to www.bigalsonline.com and look for one of there SUPER small vacs.

Would the type of vacuum with a bulb on it work?

WOW!!!! The place where I looked for small aquariums, they ran for around 50$! I'll pass. 10 gal it is. Now where to put it.....

Try buying the smallest siphon you can find (try to find one of those that don't have to be shook up and down), then when you're ready to vaccum the gravel, fill the entire siphon with tap water (place your thumb over the the end of the tube where the water comes out), then when you place the siphon in the little tank, hang the tubing in a bucket and take your thumb off.

That will get the suction started right away. If it is removing the water too fast, just bend the tubing to adjust the flow.
