Small Arowana-like fish

ok, I like how Arowana looks but since they obviously don't come in community-safe size, here come dumb questions:
Is there anything look or move like a arowana? you know, kinda snake like movement, flexible spine fish. If there is, how big do they get? what are their requirements? how much would one cost usually?

I doubt that there is one but I ask anyway just in case

African butterfly fish aren't that flexible but they look a lot like arowanas except they grow to at least 4-5 inches. You need a lid if you don't want them flying out of your tank.;)
 
How small are we talking? Giant Danio ? or...
 
Spiney eels are about as flexible and snakelike as any fish, but aren't open-water swimmers like an arrowana or african butterfly fish.
 
I've always seen a huge resemblance between bettas and aros.
 
I was thinking bettas too, especially the elongated species.
