Small Betta tank

i am actually very surprised that you aren't having aggression issues between the bettas in such a small space.

for the safety and health of your fish, please give the girls a bigger tank (minimum 20 gallons) and keep the male by himself in the 7 gallon.
 
i really want a halfmoon but i cant see them anywhere in the shops does anyone know a uk breeder in the south of England?

i appreciate your opinion, but they are getting on fine, if i have any issues i will follow up on your advice, but at the moment i will see how they go. it sounds to me like in england we have different views on fish keeping :/ you mistake me for a beginner i have been keeping fish with my family my whole life. :) but thank you for the advice :)#

Good luck... I just got a female betta into my 10g and she's ALL over the place! I can't imagine that many girls AND a male to boot in that size of a tank - can't even imagine 3 girls in one 10g! You're very lucky you haven't had any problems. :eek:

I'm very surprised to hear that hobbyists of any country would consider your current betta tank appropriate housing for them. B. splendens are, after all, are known for conspecific aggression, particularly between males or when mixing males and females. Also, we do get a lot of questions in here from experienced aquarists who aren't that familiar with bettas and make rookie mistakes with them. Good luck with your harem.
 
even if they are all getting along, 7 gallons is not large enough for that many fish.

i mistake nobody for a beginner in fishkeeping. i don't make assumptions. i take the many avenues and sources of knowledge and combine them with my and other fishkeepers' experiences. based on all of that, i give my opinion and advice to other fishkeepers, whether they be beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
 
oh ok, and as i said guys seriously. i didnt come on here for a debate. i love bettas like the rest of you probably do. and they are fine at the moment. i am in the process however of getting a much bigger tank for them and all will be well :) because as you say i would rather they were happy. its just the funds at the moment! my post from yesterday wasnt insinuating an argument. i was just telling you whats going to happen. @bettafishmommy your opinion has been noted the tank ive got atm was never meant to be more than temporary :)

Did you sort out which tank you're getting for the single male?

If you're upgrading the group in the 27L to a larger aquarium soon, the 27L tank would be great for the single male betta and a couple of tankmates. Maybe snails, or a dwarf frog, or a small school of non-nippy nano fish ... Just a thought. No pressure! :)
