small clear things on back wall

my tank is currently cycling with 6 Dwarf Neon Rainbows. When I looked in today on the back wall of the aquarium there are a bunch of clear little bubbles or somthing (they remind me of zebra danio eggs--but obviously aren't). I have never noticed them before, and was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what these are, and if they will be a problem for the fish?????

oh i also have some live plants and driftwood (but they have been in the tank for a week and a half, whereas today is the first time i have even noticed these clear things)
 
air bubbles from your filter?
 
maybe...but they aren't like the bubbles that you get when you first put water in a new aquarium, they aren't as transparent.
 
well i went to inspect again...and they don't seem to be in clumps, but they are on every side of the aquarium not just the back, so I could see them better now. They don't seem to be circular but more like umbrella shaped and they look like they are pulsating, but that could just be the current moving them (seems most likely). And they are definitely not transparent, kind of white and tiny.

Do you still have these things in your tank?

They sound maybe like freshwater hydroids, or some other little invertebrates that hitched a ride on the live plants. That's why I always rinse plants in tap water before putting them in the tank. I'm sure there's a better way to "sterilize" them, but that removes the bulk stuff, and the chlorine probably kills some little critters.

If they are hydroids, watch out! They can sting you and your fishies (they're related to corals and jellyfish). I've only experienced them in saltwater, but a few of them are freshwater. Look them up on the web either under "hydroid" or "bryozoa" and tell me if that's them.

Anyway, they sound creepy. Pulsating? Ech!

Ahh, the joys of live aquaria.
