I've got a tank that just sky-rockets up to the 90s (F) during the afternoon and there's nothing I can do about it's location or can manually change the temperature. I've heard of coolers. Anyone know where I can get a reliable one for a five gallon?

I'm going to be gone at school most of the day, starting soon, and I can't keep track of someone putting the ice in there beginning in the afternoon. If it's put in there in the morning, the temperature will drop too much and it'll melt before it's needed...

For a tank that small your best bet would be to keep the top open and have a fan blow across the surface of the water. You could also try leaving the lights off during the day that may help a little too. The smallest chiller would cost more than all your fish and tanks combined.

A small fan would be the best idea for you. The tank is small and that is why the temp jumps so much. I have used a small PC fan for a 20g and it was able to cool it very nicely.
