small plecos?

Not really. They don't get that big either. What they do poop looks like tiny algae pellets. They do poop often, but it is really small and can easily be removed with water changes. http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_oto.php
The local Petsmarts sells otos for $1.69 a piece. Good quality, too.
Keep in mind that otos don't eat all algae. I never got clear glass panes in tanks with only otos and shrimp. Bristlenose plecos keep the tank spotless. Don't expect them to eat hair or dust algae, though.
