Small schooling fish

If you can find them, emerald-eye rasboras (R. dorsiocellata) are quite small- but not too small- and are very beautiful fish.

I have 5 Black Skirt Tetras in my 20G (rescued from my sisters tank). To be frank the tank is too small for them really, they are healthy though, I personally wouldn't put them in. Personal fave are Harlequin Rasboras, very active but not aggressive. Great in a planted tank. I like Zebra Danios too but mine seem to have a death wish they keep jumping out of the tiny hole where the cords come out (poor stupid little guys).

You could easily do 6...but should warn you, while danios are called schooling fish (and they may school well at the pet store because they are stressed), once they get settled in your tank they'll tend to hang separately. Mine school together maybe 15% of the time (and I'm counting when they bunch up to feed in that estimate). The rest of the time each fish does it's own thing.

They are great fish though, and come in a couple of great color and fin varieties. The blue are especially striking, but nothing beats a regular adult zebra in mature coloration.

Maybe Harlequin Rasboras, or another small rasbora?
I second the Harlequins. Or Espe's or Hengel's Rasboras.

lets try and keep in mind that his BB cats are potential predators and would probably go after harlies IMO.

Went down to the LFS today, and changed my mind. I decided to go with cherry barbs. They only had 4 left so I will wait until they get another shipment, then I can get them all at the same time. I know they don't school so well, but I like the look of them anyway. Good idea?
