Hi,
I have two 30 gallon filters, a 75, a 20, and now a 29 gallon in my home. However, i have taken to those little 2 gallon hex tanks they sell with underground filters.
Before anyone says anything let me clarify that I used to sort of specialize in the small tanks.
I would cycle them, and keep darling little dwarf fish in them. My parameters were impeccable and I liked the challenge of keeping the smaller tanks running so well.
however, I had forgotten how noisy those little air compressors were- I like the idea of using the undergravel filter in these thanks, but don't like the noise level when i have 3 or 4 of them running. My tank inhabitants this time round are snails and cherry shrimp. I have cycled the tanks so ammonia is 0, nitrites are 0, nitrates 5 .
Anyone know of a super quiet type of filter I could use?
I saw a nano tank filter yesterday but it was like a mini version of the ones you see hanging over the edge of the big tanks- still, I wonder if I wouldn't like that more-
any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Or if you know anyway to make the compressors run more quietly!
thanks!

I just got the red sea nano filter for my 2.5G, its been doing great so far.... the azoo plam filter is another one to look into as well.

I have a Red Sea Nano, and it works great. Absolutely quiet as long as you keep the water level up.

thanks guys!
I just found 3 azoos for $5.99 each so snatched them up!
also, do your small tanks have the clamp lights or did you have to jerry-rig the lids so the little filters would fit?
I have lids presently, but am thinking of gettint the clamp lights.

so, mellowvision, you don't cover your tank? I guess I don't have to worry about "jumpers" with my snails-LOL-
