Ok I need some advice here... I would like to have a tank for my desk at work. I have an extra 1gal with an ugf and a light that is empty. I would like to put a few snails and some shrimp in it. I was thinking about taking out the ugf and just using an air stone. Do you guys think this is ok? I have Mylasian trumpet snails that will be the ones to go in this small tank along with 1 or two Cherry shrimp. I will have live plants too. A java fern.My worry with having the ugf running all the time is that if the snails have babies (and they will) won't they get sucked down under? That is my only concern. What do you think? I am wanting to se this up soon. The only thing I am missing is the shrimp. I've got the snails in another tank and the live plants too. Tips?...

I dont think there is enough flow on an UGF to suck the snail babies down and then into the riser. I wouldnt worry bout it too much. Sounds like a good idea for a nice little respite from the daily grind. :D
