small tank

i got a 5.5 gallon last night. i put pool filter sand and some plants (the ones that come in the tubes with the gel, from petco) and some cool looking lava rock things.
no filter or cover/lights yet..
1. i didnt have enough money at the time lol and
2. im not sure which filter to get for such a small tank..any suggestions?
and suggestions for lighting?
and where can i get snails to start breeding them?

I recently had the same idea, but just haven't done any follow up on it. (Plus I think my bf will kill me if I come home with another tank right now). How may DPs could you put in a 5g? They seem to stay pretty small, would a pair be too much?
Kerrid - Whisper makes filters small enough for that tank, and they are pretty inexpensive. I haven't seen many others out there, but with the whole nano craze there may be others. I have a whisper in my 2g with my Betta It keeps the water oxygenated and seems to do alright. It was a little difficult to cycle being so small, but it eventually happened.

Iwould love to get dp but my local petsmart has not recieved any in over a monthi even had th 10 gal all setup and running.
Where do you live? Maybe someone on the forums can recommend a LFS that would have them.
