hi im looking for a tank to take to college with me around 3-5 gals, ive looked at many of them at petco/petsmart i was just wondering if any of you have these small acrylic tanks with built in filters and lighting and which ones you think are the best

I like my pair of Eclispe 3-gallon acrylic tanks...but they tend to get pretty warm if I keep the lighting on long enough to keep the Java Moss happy.

I think a better bet is the Eclipse 6, or even 12. They don't have a much bigger footprint, and it's a little easier to keep the water parameters stable.

Check walmart cause they have the 5 gallon "Eclipse" tank for much less...it doesnt have any Eclipse logo on it but its made by the same company...

One advantage of Eclipse aquariums over similar brands is the flourecent lighting. You can grow some hardy live plants with it without making upgrades.

I second bearskookum's advice...these are identical, and a better value than my Eclipse 3's (although I did get them NIB for only $25 on a clearance sale). That Wally World Regent 5 is really a 5-gallon Eclipse-styled tank.

Try to stay at least in the 5 gal range. The more volume stability you can get, the better.

I've looked into possibly getting the hex. 5 gallon setup myself from walmart, it's only 28.00's has a bio-wheel and it would probably look great especially for 28.00's. I was looking at the smaller 2.5 gallon as well for a betta but they were as much or almost as much for the mini-bowls as the 5 gallon hex., never understood how you can get a better and bigger for about the same price as a smaller tank.
