Small White Circle

I just performed a water change yesterday on the setup posted in my sig.. I just noticed small pencil tipped formations on the glass. Everyone is alive, eating, and behaving normally in the tank. Temp is about 78 (living in houston,tx makes temperature stability a struggle). The small formations look like the top of a volcano when looking from above. They are white perfect circles with the middles missing...almost like a dough nut. Anyone have any ideas?

OH! I almost forgot! I am using Oceanic sea salt. This is not my choice of salt but it comes in a bottle and not a plastic bag. I like to use InstantOcean.

I think they are probably a polychaete worm. ie. a very tiny type of featherduster. They are usually somewhat difficult to scrape off and you may need a razor. If you look close you may see a crown on it but those can be as small as the tip of an eyeglass screw.

the sourse is just the income of nutrients. Their numbers will come and go as your nutrient levels do.
BTW: i tried oceanic once to use the jug, didnt like it, so i switched to tropic marine and just pour it in the jug. But IO is not the best salt, esspecialy for a reef.

Just kinda bothered that the salt has material floating in the water just after mixing. I can live for now but wont ever get that brand again!

Instant Ocean has always been true to its mixing and SG with no material floating around.

yeah!!! i found pieces of plastic in mine!@!!!!! I was relay confused. however if you are doing a reef, i wouldnt use IO because of the low Ca levels and other trace elements. and if you added trace elements, you wouldnt know if you are over or under dosing. That is why i like TM. but then again, it is all a matter of opinioin.
