Smallest Cichlid?

One is 3 1/2 inches the other is around 4 1/2 or 5 inches. They mostly just hang out together and swim all over each other, though they've never produced any fry and I'm not really sure of their genders.

Any tips on taking pictures? I just got a camera and every time I took pics of the old tank they were always blurry and discolored...I'll post some up if I can get good images.

The smallest cichlids that I know of are apistogrammas that grow to an inch & a half in length.

I also like the The Dwarf Shell-Dwelling Cichlids that are all native to Lake Tanganyika. They can even be housed succesfully in a ten gallon aquarium (I'd say 6 ) & have all of the personality of their larger cousins.

I am interested in this thread cause I just set up a 29G but it is empty and I have no idea weather to put a single fish in it or go the community route. Any ideas? I also thought of an all puffer tank but dunno.

Forget the puffers and go with something more interesting like a colony of multies, they'll breed like crazy and are very entertaining to watch.

I've had fish that could fit in their mouth...and I do now....they aren't aggressive towards anything I've had them for well over a year now.

Please understand that even though you have or have had fish that MIGHT fit into their mouths & they don't get eaten,...that in no way means that one day in the future, they won't gobble them up.

Doesn't always happen immediately & sometimes it might not ever happen, so IF you are willing to take that risk,....then that's your choice.
