How can I tell if a snail is dead?....I have one that I am concerned about...he doesnt move day or nite and has no detectable activity present....I have read that snails can possibly be inactive for days or weeks at a time but I was wondering if this is true and should I show concern for this one particular snail?

What kind of snail? If it's one that has a 'lid' (operculum) to cover the opening, the easiest thing is to see if the lid is still attached. If yes, the snail is okay, if not, the snail is dead or dying. A surefire test--if the body responds to contact, it's alive. You can also remove the snail and take whiff--healthy snail won't smell. Dead or dying is fairly stinky.

What kind of snail is it? If it's a larger snail, like a mystery or apple, were you target feeding it?

it was a mystery snail....they were in a small tank by themselves...I think what happened was when i first got them i put them into tanks w/ my bettas and one became hostile towards it and i think that it ate more than i realized...I noticed the others coming out of their shells but not this particular one....i still have two alive...maybe they will live long and prosperous lives.
