I found 1 of my briggs on the floor today. Operculum (sp?) way, way inside but no stink. So I threw him back in the tank. A couple hours later & he's peeking out a very little bit so I'm hopeful...a rimless tank is not the best place to keep these guys I'm finding. He's the second or a repeat jumper. He's lucky I was cleaning under the tank today, not something I do very often. The other time we heard the snail hit the floor so it was only a matter of a few minutes but I have no idea how long this time, the shell seemed dry.

If the brigg makes it, you might want to consider lowering the water level in your tank for a while. They typically do that when searching for a place to lay a clutch. Good luck and hope she pulls through.

Thanks. Actually the water level is down ~3 inches (oops, evaporation) There is also a glass top but it doesn't cover the back filter area. I can only find 2 of 3 snails but the escapee is not where she was (& yes, I checked the floor again today). She is only an inch or so, is that big enough to lay eggs? I did notice some snail on snail possible "action" the other day.

i'd say a 1 inch size brigg is mature enough to start breeding. when i was raising my shellkids i would find the mid size ones in the midst of 'snail pron' all the time, lol. never witnessed who was laying what clutch all the time though, so don't know if they were sexually mature enough to produce eggs.
