snail eaters?

the snail boom was caused by my "fish-sitter" while i was outof town,
overfeeding them.

so now i have a million, and i wanted more fish in this tank anyway, so i thought it would be a good opportunity to turn an annoyance into something good.

My lfs (and the only one within an hour's drive) does not take trade ins. there used to be another that did, but they closed down several months ago.

i've got to move the tank soon anyway, i can clear out the snails when i do that i guess, instead of adding more fish.

Word has it that Banjo Catfish are snail eaters. If you have a sand or fine gravel substrate, or leaf litter, one or two of these might solve your problem without hiring foreign labor, as it were.

I've had good success with Botia striata. I had three in my 20 gallon Amazon tank for a while, and they kept it pretty much snail free. If you have room for 5 of them, they'll be much more forward and frolicsome.

hmmm. thanks for the advice.. i'll look into these options.
