Delawhere?
I was checking on my snail because it hadn't moved too much from an area in the tank and I dropped it on the hardwood floor! Its shell is seriously cracked with a piece off. It didn't flinch when I was removing it from the tank and may have been dead already, but it does not have "the smell". I have it sitting in a bowl right now and some greenish fluid has drained from it. Any hope. I know they can live out of water for some time, so I have no idea what to do with it. Set up a QT? Thoughts?

That doesn't sound too good if a fluid is leaking out from under the shell. I've never heard of that happening before, and it may be an indicator that the snail's future is grim.

No movement!

Where it would usually "close", it is open. When I was removing it from the tank it didn't snap shut. It isn't looking too good.

I guess the question is, "can a snail live with a smashed shell?".

Any chance you can get a picture? You can repair shells as long as the organs are not exposed. I agree that the leaking fluid doesn't sound great. Sometimes they produce excess slime as a response to trauma though.

I can't get the photo to download right now. The snail is definitely a gonner. If I can get the pic up I'll show you. Hopefully I'll never drop another snail again! I think it was already on its way out anyway. Thanks
