My snail floating around in current hanging out of the shell. I never seen him do that before. Is he ok? I got it on video. Uploading it now.

He could be enjoying the waves, or....may be fixing to die or is already dead. One thing need to do is keep an eye on him. You can pick him up and see if he goes back in his shell, if he doesnt moe its most likely hes dead. Keep an eye on it for a couple days if it is still moving tonight, and if it pulls into its shell and doesnt move for more than a day or so, pick it up and smell it, carefully...if it stinks, its dead.

I just checked on him. He was in his shell but still going around and around. I guess he was just having fun. He smells normal. I bopped him a few times and he released some bubbles and fell on to a plant. I never knew they would do that hanging out of the shell. Yet he is a bit :screwy: He doesn't always go in his shell when I pick him up. I was re planting because my weather loach uprooted everything and Ludwig( the snail) was in the way. I grabbed him to move him out of the way and he didn't go in the shell instead he started to craw on my hand. I took my hand out of the tank to look at him and he was just crawling around. I was ok with that until he started to chew on me. I didn't really hurt. Felt a bit like my tattoo. It creeped me out though. I had such a hard time getting him off me.

Just keep an eye on him. If his opercolum pops out he's dying.

He still seems fine today. He sucked on to the glass right now. I guess its the snail version of extreme sports.

I have ramshorns that do that a lot, so far they've been fine. I'm not sure what causes the gas buildup in their shells though.

it is when they have breathed in to much air from the surface. its completely normal tho my rams do it aswell but my apples havnt since i 1st put them in my tank.
