Snail fossil

Hi, google ammonite fossil. Pretty sure that is what it is. I found one on a mountaintop in Western Pa when I was a child. Just imagine the area where you were working was once covered by water. Cool!

Too bad we can't tell what it was for sure. Oh well, I'll keep my eyes on the ground and see if I can't stumble across another some day.
 
Don't feel bad. Just keep it in a display cabinet. To me, it is still nice to have actually. Glad Phil responded to your questions. I knew he would especially as I am interested to hear more about it too.
