Snail ID

the lettuce will break down in your tank, so it would be like dying aquarium plants. Its easier for the snails to eat, so they are attracted to it. Your otos might like it too, though cucumber or zucchini are usually more ot their liking.

Saw one climbing up on the glass...not the biggest one (that was in the filter intake earlier) but bigger then a grain of sand...probably the one that was on the power cord that fell...and I was able to pull him out of the tank. The opening was as depicted up above...fuzzy pictures, but they were the best I could focus on the little guy in my hand.

Some notes from observation:
the opening wasn't quite as round as the drawing above...also almost looked like he had a door, but he was so small I could barely make out detail, could have just been his body.

Another little update...I'm pretty sure I have more then 1 type of snail...saw another just now that's too small (smaller then the one in my hand) to photograph, but appears to have more of a ramhorn style shell...I'll probably lose most of these snails in the gravel-change I'm planning this weekend, so I'm trying to determine how much effort I should go into searching for them during the changeover.
