I know this is old but, very good article. I tell my friends all the time when they ask me how to get rid of snails to just stop feeding their fish so much. If you have a snail explosion, it's because there are enough resources for all of these snails to breed. I got a bunch of plants after my supervisor pruned one of the tanks at work. That tank is snail city, so of course when I put the plants in I had a huge explosion in my snail population. A few weeks of very light feedings and I now barely ever see any snails. The ones I do see are doing me a favor and cleaning up uneaten food, so I'm not complaining! xD
