I made this snail jello last night.. everyone has been loving it.. they were on it almost immediately when I put it in there last night.. however.. i wake up this morning to find the pieces even MORE covered in snails but nothing has changed about the pieces.. lol is it too hard? I mean the pieces aren't hard.. but can't they get it apart?? Any suggestions for a new batch? Less gelatin?

Ok! Thanks =) the pieces are only half the size of postage stamps and thin.. I spread it out on a paper plate and I put one in each tank.. just throwing that out there.

I would say make em fat but give in small amounts. When I first made snail jello It was really thin about 1 cm my guess and in about the 3rd day it was hard like a rock. Dunno if it was still safe to feed so I threw it away.

I throw my extra pieces in the freezer until I need them and only thaw just before feeding. I think that keeps it fresher for longer. But, then I also made a double batch so that I would use up the 2 jars of baby food I had laying around.

to prevent it from turning to rock I cover my jello. This comes from many years and experience with people jello turning hard after just putting it in the fridge:(

They're actually more conservative. Leave one block there and they'll keep nibbling those for days. Just keep the other blocks away in a cool place and avoid humidity which causes the pucks to grow mildew on them.
