Snail pics, snail babies, snailtopia?

Well, the nursery tank is a 2.5 gal mini bow. The community tank is a 72 gal. bowfront thats lightly planted.

I have used a baby toothbrush to clean up the stuff on occasion but it seems to keep coming back. I've read somewhere else of someone using a toothbush dipped in hydrogen peroxide to clean the shell of algae being careful to hold the snail upside down and scrub from the bottom that way no peroxide were to contact the body. I cannot vouch or condone this method as of yet, I have been scared to try it. I have, however considered getting a couple of Otto cats to put in there with them, I've heard they do a bang up job on snail shells. Till then, they'll just be a bit dirty lol.

The otto's will not clean the shells efficiently or properly, shrimp would do a much better job, but may pose a small risk to the babies. You could consider this a shrimp colony or a couple amano's or some ghost's. But you may wish to purchase some otto's if you like, I wouldn't recommend them for that though.

This looks almost identical to my brigg hatchery. I also have a golden who has produced several clutches over the past 3 months that have hatched so I have hundreds of little goldens running around. Their hatchery was originally a 5g but I moved them to a 10g planted to grow up. I trade them with my LFS when their big enough. They grow so fast you'll have big goldens before you know it! By the way, there are sooooo adorable not to mention some nice looking parents as well!

Thanks for the kind words! One thing I really love about the dad are his antenna. He has the longest antenna I have ever seen. I bet when he has them fully extended they are over 3 inches long each! He's so big now he doesn't really fit back in his shell very well. When I moved him from the big tank to the nursery he tried to close up and he got his foot folded in half and his trap door most of the way closed but his little head and eyes were sticking out and his body looked like there was a little spare tire sticking out all the way around his shell lol! I was like "don't worry big guy, I know what its like." :grinyes:

Lol my golden also has HUGE antennas. She's also a lot bigger than my other snails. The father of her little ones is a dark striped purple and is a bit smaller than she is. One of her babies from her first hatching clutch is almost as big as her mother and is identical to her. She's named Lil Migo after her mother, whose name is Amigo (I thought she was a boy when I bought her and didn't feel like changing her name after I discovered she laid eggs). I bet those little ones of yours are going to be gorgeous when they grow up!
