I'm in a bit of a predicament at the moment and I was wondering if someone could help me out. About a week ago I bought some plants that had some bladder snail hitchhikers on them. I removed all of the snails and egg clutches and put them in a one gallon bowl that I have. They are multiplying and I would like to get rid of them, the problem is that I don't want to kill them. :headshake2: I would feel so bad about it, and they are so cute. Would I be able to release them in a stream or pond? I live in West Virginia along the Ohio River and there is a swamp land just a few miles up the road, could they go there? I know the animal parasitology class goes there to gather ramshorn snails to study. As of right now I have about 15 snails, all pretty tiny, and one clutch that is about to hatch. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appricated.

Don't release anything regardless of what they are. If I were you, feel free to squash the extras or throw them to the bin. Fish will appreciate the extra protein.

Releasing is not an option find someone to take them or dispose of them properly.

I agree with the posts above me , Don't ever release anything into the wild the consequences to the natural habitat can be devastating. I had some bladder snails hitchhike in on some other snails I bought. After fighting to rid my tank of them (Impossible IMO) I just let them be, they are kind of cute. I just crush one or two a day for my cherry shrimp and Betta to snack on.

I just think they're adorable and I don't really think I'd have the heart to crush them. I didn't think that I'd be able to let them go. Should I post something in the classifieds?

As long as you know the snails are healthy, please do make them available to puffer keepers and others.
Snails multiply fast, but puffers and some catfish suck them down like jelly beans!!!

Last resort throw them into the garden where there is no chance of runoff into a body of water.
