Today some snails hatched and I have 23 snails!!! Then I sa w 4 different snails mating. This is going to turn bad so I want to stop it before it starts. I have 2 platies and a chineese alge weater that will soon go to my uncle. What should I get to control it?

try this article, especially the second part labeled "Population control"

There's not really a way to get snails to stop breeding. As long as you have more than one, they will breed. Because most snails are hermaphrodites (both male and female at the same time), they can mate with any other individual of the same species.

If you want to reduce their numbers, put in a piece of lettuce at night. In the morning, remove it and it should be covered in snails.

But don't use a chemical to kill them. As MGamer said, they provide more benefit than harm. Besides, a chemical is harmful to your biological filter and fish, too.

You can trap them, remove them by hand, reduce the food, but you will always have snails. get a loach your problems will be over. There is the skunk, clown, yoyo etc... the right one it depends on the size of your tank. Your snails will be gone almost overnight. Good luck

The lettuce thing does work - I use it to trap snails from my larger tanks for my puffers to eat.

Couple of Zebra Loaches can take care of the snails. What is your tank size?
