Snail Problem!!!

I would suggest clown loach.I have also problem with snails before but when I put 1 clown loach in my tank, they were gone.try it,it's effective.

Little spiral shaped snails you say?

Could be malaysian trumpet snails. Not known to eat plants, but to eat plenty of crap and algae. They burrow in the substrate and keep it aerated. They're quiet beneficial.

Snails get a bad rap in this hobby. I have them in my 55g and never see more than 2-4 of them at a time. My plants are fine and always have been.

Don't overfeed!!

Keep your tank clean like you should be anyway.

They will never get out of control, nor will they present any problem worth worrying about. The methods to rid the tank of them, as far as chemicals and tear downs go, are far worse than just keeping them.

In fact, I purposely introduced them into my 5g betta tank. It's all about knowing what you're doing.

My snails only eat plants or parts of plants that are dying anyway. I've never seen them damage healthy plants.

If it is MTS:

Then you're OK. They won't harm your plants at all. =)

Thanks guys for helping me so much!!!

I looked at the picture, and thats what I have. Good to know they don't eat plants.

Thanks again!

FOR ALL YOU SNAIL LOVERS:

I prefer the old fashion way of getting rid of those wonderful being. I start culling the largest snails by hand for about a week or at least until you get all the largest out. than I go to work on the next largest ones, and so for and so on. In about a month you will be rid of the loveable infestation. Regular checking for eggs on side of tank, rocks, wood, etc. is a must also. Good luck to all escargoers!

So this snail goes in to buy a Cadillac and he tells the salesman that he wants a big red "S" painted on the doors, the trunk, the hood and the mirrors.
The salesman tells him it can be done but asks why.

The snail then says, "That way when I drive down the street, people can point and say, 'Look at that S car go...'"

:duh:

I wish that were true! We had an infestation of MTS and they ravaged all the live - even healthy - plants in our aquarium. They left only stalks. At first we thought we had only ramshorn snails but the MTS population exploded and left only a few - 4 or 5 of the ramshorn.
