Snail-safe Tankmates

i have continuously kept briggs with a large angel and the angel does not nip the snails at all. even tiny baby briggs are safe with this fish. mind you, this could be due to the fish's individual personality and not due to the breed profile.

in my 55 gallon moderately/heavily planted tank i have lonfin rosy barbs, panda barb, cories, angel, albino rainbow shark, and endlers. all do well with the snails. even have one snail that lost it's door and he's fine in there.

I hav a 72 gal, lightly planted tank with 7 mystery snails (brigs/diffusia) of different colors. I have had no problems with any of the tankmates and all the snails are seen at almost all times with antennae freely flowing in the current. (this wasnt the case when they were with my female convict cichlid, you could of swore the ones in there didn't have any. They now live in friendlier waters).

Thier tank mates are:

10 Zebra danios
6 harliquin rasboras
5 panda cories
2 Siamese algae eaters
2 bumblebee gobies
1 male crowntail betta
3 Amano shrimp
Several ghost shrimp

More stock to be added, but so far absolutely no snail problems.

my bettas are pretty mild tempered and get along fine with the snails and treating them as though they are just moving rocks. im not saying that all bettas get along perfectly with snails bu they might be good to add to the list with a warning in parentheses:goldfish:.

My swordtails and my endlers nipped at my snails. I have Pristella Tetras and White Clouds in with them and they leave the snails alone.

Just wanted to add that I am also having tremendous amount of trouble with my swordtails picking on and nipping at my snails. They are afraid to come out now and mostly only come out at night. I am trading my swords for some Dalmation Mollies from a trusted fellow fishkeeper this weekend in hopes that the snails will recover and not be so stressed out! (Although yes, I did read on the list that some mollies are ok with snails and some are not.) Does anyone have any experience with say, getting small fry to "grow up with" the snails? Does that make any difference about them picking on them? Or do they just grow up and see lunch?

I agree! I don't think any 4 of my past bettas gave a darn about my snails... My current betta, #3, looks at them, and then looks away.

Oh crap, I revived an old thread again, didn't I...
