I have one of these:
http://www.eheim.de/eheim/inhalte/index.jsp?key=liniendetail_27585_ehen

Which i use to pump water between my two aquariums.. unfortunately the little grill on it doesn't seem to be enough to stop my pond snails getting eviscerated on the intake.. which i first realised when i found the insides of one of them floating in the other tank :headshake2:

Does anyone have any ideas for protecting the intake? I don't want to put a huge sponge over the entire bottom half, and i think a nylon filter would get gummed up pretty fast..

Thanks for any help

Ever since I put a Fluval foam prefilter on one of my powerheads, I haven't been losing ghost shrimp to the powerhead. Any aquarium sponge or media bag will do.

Cheers, I don't have any filter bags, so i'll have to see how much they are at the LFS.. otherwise, maybe i can rubberband some foam to the intake
