Over the past week I noticed my Crown Top Snail had gained a growth.
Any ideas??

Sorry the pictures aren't the best, just couldn't get a good angle on him.

Let it grow a little and try to get more pics! I had one in an old nano of mine with an SPS growing on it, and have seen pics of them with featherdusters attached. So it could really be anything at this point. If I had to guess I would say he rubbed up really good against some type of soft coral and it is now growing on him.

Yea I'm not sure. They were in a tank with coral at the lfs, but we have nothing here..maybe though, which would be pretty neat. I was just hoping he didn't have anything weird! Also there isn't enough light to sustain coral.

Could be a sponge???

Yeah it is not uncommon for snails to have similar growths to those found on LR

Fuzzy pic... Is the "growth" look like a small shell? Is it hard? Difficult to say for sure, but we had a snail that came with a parasitic snail hitchhiking on it that looked similar to your pic.

It felt hard. I pulled him out for a moment and took some new pictures.

Looks almost like a small barnical to me, but it wouldn't be the first time I goofed an ID!

Should I be doing anything about it or just leaving it?

I'd leave it unless it causes harm in some way to the snail, which at it's present size it should not.
