Day 1: Inserted a huge fresh leaf of spinach anchored down by a large pebble

Day 2: Woke up to find nuthing but the hard spine of the spinach leaf left, a rather pot bellied pleco, and a herd of disapointed looking snails wondering aimlessly around the spine. Managed to grab about 50 of them and shipped them off to the garden pond. Decided to try a huge fresh leaf of lettuce next...

Day 3: Woke up to find nuthing. Not a single trace of lettuce! Ditto pot bellied pleco, snail herd, and add one rather sheepish looking CAE. About 20 snails captured and shipped off. Decided to try a generous helping of cucumber sliced in half lengthways...

Day 4: I'm beginning to see a pattern here...

Any tips on how to keep the bottom feeders off the snail bait? :wall:

Ha ha, plecos LOVE cucumbers, probably even more than lettuce!! This won't solve your problem, but just to make the snails easier to remove, what about setting the veggies down inside a Tupperware container (as long as it is new or VERY well-rinsed). Then hopefully you can just pull the whole container out with the snails inside.

My pleco isn't a huge fan of peas. Do you recommend I switch to spinach or something leafy?

My cichlids keep the snail issue to a minimum.

Put the lettuce or whatever underneath a small strawberry carton(you know the ones i'm talking about right?)

The holes should be big enough for the snails to go through, but the carton will keep the big fish out. Viola!

i think its more like snails 3 ninjapenguin 0..... try some zucchini. takes the pleco longer to eat.
