Can you keep snails in with African Cichlids, or do they get pestered?

Thinking of a few Mystery Snails, just for fun.

I would think they would be pestered, but I haven't kept african cichlids. The biggest risk would be that they would nip at antenna (which can grow back) and cause the snail to not come out of its shell to eat (resulting in starving). Hopefully someone experienced with cichlids will chime in, in my opinion, it probably wouldn't work well at all.

i wouldnt try it as if they dont eat them they will certainly pester them. MTS have extra strong shells and are hard to break for fish.

i tried keeping snails with my dempsey (i know central american cichlid but hey) and he ate all of em in the first day.

mmmm...yummy said the cichlid :grinyes:

Snails are a good food staple for most cichlids. Most africans will quickly devour them, as well as south americans.
Both my africans and S.A's devour malaysian trumpet snails. They suck them right out of the shell. That is why you see empty shells in your gravel.

I FEED SNAILS TO MY LARGER AFRICANS,I BELIEVE THEY WOULD JUST CRUNCH THEM UP LIKE CEREAL..
