Snails and heaters

My snails sleep against my Visi-Therm Steath heater all day long and I've never noticed one with burn marks on it.

you'd be surprised how fast a snail moves, especially when they smell an algae wafer hit the water.

how big of a tank do you have an what kind of filter do you use? how big was the snail? was their strainer on the intake? my apple snails are about golf ball sized and they pass over the intake with ease.

The snail that died was a little bigger than a quarter. The filter that killed it was an AC50. My tank's a 46g bow front, I also have an AC30 running on it

Ok, I feel a lot better now, thanks for all the replies. I will still go look into a heater guard. If I put a strainer on the intake of the filter, wouldn't "stuff" such as uneaten food just get stuck against the strainer instead of being sucked into the filter? I'd think the strainer would get kind of nasty after awhile
