Just wondering if you should avoid putting snails in a tank with sand - mine keep lying on their backs with sand all over their foot.

Sounds like they are lazy! There shouldn't be a problem in my experience though I don't know what the general conditions are in your tank. Plants, food sources, chemistry...The tank is quite small, no food sources as yet other plants - Amozan Sword Plant, Anubias and Cabomba and a bit of Java Moss. Also a couple of pieces of bog wood.
