snails in java moss

This thread is great. How cool it is to have a glimpse of the early days of our Great and Most Gracious and Benevolent Queen of Inverts and Small Fishies: the beginnings of a grande empire. We love ya, Jinkzy.
 
LOL! It was pretty strange that Jinxy didn't seem to know what to do with snails and moss ...
 
Pulling out individual strands of moss and inspecting them under a magnifying glass is the only sure way to avoid hitchhikers. Except for those too small to see. ;-)

What I do to try for pure mosses, is pull individual strands and grow them out in a tank that has never had moss.
Patience is required, unfortunately.
