I just recently did a water change and i realize that this whole time i have been adding enough water conditioner for more than 5gallons of water and i wanted to correct it.

So i did.

Now all of my snails, they are reegular one that come with plants by accident, anyway all of the m not just a couple are almost out of the water.

Is this an indication that something is seriouly wrong?

I recently purchase a feeder goldfish to the tank that in a week or so wiill be going into the pond, it died after a day.

I am not sure if it has anything to do with it because the other fish are fine for now.

I use prime and i was told by someone on this web site that i should use 2 drops per gallon is this right?

I am currious to no if the water didn't get dechlorinated enough?

If it hadn't would the fish in the tank have died by now?

Should i get the water tested for chlorine and chloramin?

Or should i put in more prime?

I could be wrong but the fact that i noticed i was puttting in more than i had to saved me something like 12 drops or so but i would like to know if those should be readded to the water or if it is something else?

I really think it is the dechlorinator myself because i ave done it the old way adding more drops and never had a problem.

You would be well served to test your water on a regular basis esp if using city water. You also need to know what your water contains coming out of the tap no matter what. You need to read the directions that are on the bottle and treat accordingly - don't go by someone else's recommendation for it as they might have mis-read the label.

As far as snail out of the aquarium? Mine do it form time to time and I know my water is good. They don't stay out long but do venture out on occasion.

I think it was me who said 2 drops per gallon, except it actually is 4 drops per gallon, so I think you did under do it. 4 drops per gallon with Prime or 1 mL per 10 gallons.

And as excuzzeme said, snails do that all the time even if the water is perfect. In fact, I have a couple of snails who are out of the water right now. Only about a centimeter above the water line though.

4 drops is a dbl dose from what is stated. (2 drops per gallon). I'm using 6 drops for 2.5gal jugs just to keep a nice even number.

My mystery snails did the same thing this weekend after a water change. Still keeping an eye on them but others have said this is a normal behavior.

My MTS and Ramshorn snails do it all the time.

As for prime, I diluted it 1:19 with distilled water and put it a bottle with a 5ml cap. Most water treatments and some meds have 5ml size caps. Now, a capful is for 10G and it's easier to get the right dosage.

I added in 42 drops which was what it was missing and the snails are now going back into the water. My guess is even though it is 2 drops the 2 1/2 drops i was adding before was as far as i could go.

I will just go back to what i was doing before because prime is already cheap enough so i don't want to risk anything for a 1 or to of drops i might be saving.
