Ok so this is odd - I have a 55g, and about 3 years ago, or more, i had a mass infestation of snails, i forget which kind they were because i havent seen them in so long, they have the twisted little cone shape shell and are very small, anyhow, i used to have to scoop them out with a net by the hundreds, this was when i used to also have live plants, and no doubt i prob accidentally introduced them via plants (even though i always washed mine 1st). Well, i cut back feedings and over time my plants died out and were replaced with cloth ones, and i think my clown loach and khuli loaches may have eventually eaten all the snails somehow, even though i had read this type of snail was difficult for fish to eat, anyhow the snails vanished, i didnt see a single one for over 3 years, not at night, not during feedings, not during the day - nothing. So, the other evening, i flick on the lights like i always do and what do ya know, a handful of snails in the tank! Ok, here's the weird part, I havent bought a new plant for at least 3 or more years and haven't introduced a new fish in close to 5 years! so nothing came in from a fish store bag or anything - could eggs have been buried in the gravel this long and have just hatched? I'm stunned to see them!

have maybe slightly increase the amount per feeding, but i generally feed either once a day or every other day or so - and yes that is the name of the snail, MTS, couldn't recall them till you mentioned it - still can't figure how they re-emerged though

MTS will dive under the substrate during the daytime and reemerge at night.

i had a tank broke down for over a year and the gravel was dry for a year and i used it again and pow, add water and got snails they were still alive, and dormant in the gravel all that time,..

Oh no, that's not what I wanted to read... *eyes her gravel tubs downstairs suspiciously*
