SNAILS OH MY!!!!

I've two blues that have laid 8 or 9 clutches over the last 6 weeks. Not all hatched. But at least a couple of have. I've got probably 200 that are about the size of a pea in a 30 gallon.

Did you crack the eggs open once you saw the first one? Do they not need to go into the water as soon as they hatch?

I had two clutches that broke open and several were exposed but didn't drop into the tank. I checked the rest of them and most were not developed at all inside the eggs.

This is the first time I've had snails and have snails lay eggs :)

no no cracking of any eggs of me i scrape them off the glass with a razor blade and put them in an incubator on top of the tank ..3 layers of folded paper towels the bottom one just barely damp..in a sandwich size plastic container (got mine at the 1$ store) poke a hope in the top and put eggs in.

I lave them in the box until i see them get mushy and break open like in the pic than with a damp finger i pick up all he stranglers and plop them in to the water..along with the busted open egg sack,I do it this way because i have watched them hatch in my tanks most of the time i don't see on snail going or a few at a time..what i have seen is the clutch getting soft and all or most of it falling in to the water..so i try to mimic this! ^_^ seems to be working another clutch is due to hatch in about 3 days.

^_^ lots of pail footed babies!.

another clutch hatched, one is about 2 days from hatching, two other clutches have been laid in the past few days!

they are !! TY ^_^

Oh lovely. What are you feeding it?

I will be waiting until you sell them! They look wonderful!

they are eating snail-O that i made for them..with blanched spinach, zucchini, strawberries and unsalted canned green beans mashed up in it..every one loves it ^_^.

I never knew such special care was taken in hatching them. I thought people just left the clutches in the tank. Your food prep you mentioned had a lot of ingredients do you just throw each bit in or were you mixing them somehow?

What gorgeous colors!

thank you!!

I let my normal colored eggs hatch in the tank..but i got tired of 100's of babies and sub adults in my main tank and decided to set up a tank just for the babies.

as for food prep I add all of those ingredients finely chopped in to my snail-o so they can get bits of everything as they eat..seems to work wonders on shells in soft water.
