Snails-- safe to feed? Should I worry about disease?

about a week ago i added around 30 MTS to my tank with 4 yo-yo loaches... quite a number are still there but i have to say, one of the most entertaining things ive ever seen is a yo-yo loach sucking a snail out of its shell...i mean, poor snail and all that, but ::nudge::, ::click click click::, no more snail. it's quite a site. i plan on always having a few in there.

it really depends on when they discover the snails as food. at first mine didnt do anything about them, then all of a sudden they just realized how tasty those snails are. just give em time, let instinct kick in :)

I hope so I should have some waiting at home for my fish when i get home
Let's hope UPS didn't freeze them to death. Just let them lay some eggs somewhere before they get eaten. The MTS's will survive almost any fish at some level or another , the other two types will be lunch quickly.

It amazes me how smart fish can seem at times. My cichlids first try to get the snails in their moth and if they don't fit they will set them on a flat piece of rock and wait for the snail to go for a walk. then sneak up on it and actually grab it and shake the shell lose from the snail. you would be amazed how fast a jack Dempsey can move side to side. But the most entertaining thind for me is watching my red ramshorns skate arcoss the surface of my tank upside down. the cling to the surface as if it were a piece of glass, It's almost scary how smoothly they can move on the underside of surface film.

So far so good all of the little one and the big ones (can you tell I don't know there names) are out and about eating algee. The Long Shelled ones haven't moved, at least where I could tell yet. Thanks you Dave for the info and the snails.
