SNAILS SNAILS!!! how to tell poo from eggs, and breed them!

ahhhhhh **** well can i get some apple snails, that wont work, or will it......does anyone have a link where i can buy some snails??? i will try ebay....

Mystery snails are one of the types of apple snails. They happen to be the only apple snail (I know of) that won't eat plants so they tend to be pretty popular. They come in several colors like many apple snails.

The bottom line is that apple snails are not the prolific breeders that the smaller hitchhikers are. They do have to have males and females present, and the eggs need to be above water line and moist in order to survive. it just becomes a difficult task to produce a lot of them unless you have a large tank with controlled water levels.

Common ramshorns and pond sanils are what you need as said. I would not buy either with cash. There are too many folks trying to get rid of them. If you can't find a fish store that will let you have some for free, take Kiss up on the offer, or PM me and I'll send you a good starter culture. I breed Rams, Pond snails and MTS in large quantities for my Cichlids and Catfish so I always have plenty.

No snail is asexual. They are either male or female, or they are hermaphroditic (both make and female). One common tank type, MTS, are parthenogenic females and reproduce without males - but they still have gender, they are not asexual.

The lack of knowledge of LFS staff should not come as a shock to anybody on any decent web forum.
